We have heard of this adage "Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food". But do we actually think about it seriously and watch what we eat. Nowadays, fast food is so easily available and affordable. Many of us succumb to the hard selling notion that we are eating healthy food if we have salad and fruit to go with our meal.

But I think eating healthy goes beyond this. It is eating food grown that is not bombarded by dangerous pesticides. It is eating food that is not processed with harmful chemicals so it has a longer shelf life. It can be quite an ordeal for some people to have to discontinue eating certain foods that they have gotten used to.

However painful it may be, it is important and should be a conscious life choice. You have only one life and one body. It is therefore your responsibility to look after it the best way possible. And if food is going to be the healing medicine for your body, then let good food make you healthy and happy.

Parents have a responsibility to make wise choices for their children's dietery requirements too so they grow up healthy and will continue to form a habit of always choosing good food. After all, they are the next generation that we will depend on to lead the world to change towards a greener and cleaner and ultimately, a healthier life for everyone.
