"Let Food Be Thy Medicine and Medicine be Thy Food"

This adage to eating good food and having a healthy diet is something that we should all strive to live by. The quality and quantity of the food we consume daily does have a direct effect on our health. We worry about the use of harmful pesticides to yield bountiful harvests and the effect it has on our bodies. Canned tin food may contain preservatives and other chemicals so they have a longer shelf life in the supermarkets. Organic Foods are expensive and not everyone can afford the high prices. Instant noodles is really popular among many people as a quick meal with little effort to prepare. However, these foods if eaten often and in large amounts can contribute to ill-health.

In view of this, I think it is an important life skill for a person to learn how to cook for themselves. We need never depend on instant noodles or expensive food from restaurants or food courts. When we cook for ourselves, we know exactly what we are putting into our bodies...good food. They may be simple recipes like pasta and salads and fried chicken and clear soups. If you have to spend a little bit more buying good food produce to be healthy, do it! Think of it this way, would you rather spend your money on good food and have good health or pay a doctor to make you well because you were negligent in leading a healthy lifestye.

Parents should also bear the responsibility of making healthy food choices for their children. If children grow up eating healthy, it will be beneficial to their developing bodies. Hopefully this healthy eating habit in childhood will continue into adulthood too.

If food is to be the healing medicine for our bodies, then let good food be your choice for a healthy and happy life.
